Texas Children's Hospital is Hiring a Medical Assistant - TC Pediatrics Management Group Near Houston, TX

Job Summary

We are searching for a full-time Medical Assistant at the TC Pediatrics Management Group location-- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will gather information, assess, and provide direct care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the collection of patient/family data that may include biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per practice protocol
  • Provides general patient care
  • Assists provider, as directed, during treatments, examinations and testing as directed by provider and within scope of practice
  • Administers medication and immunizations as directed by physician per practice protocol
  • Supports patients/families in self-management of their health through assisting with education
  • Performs and documents scheduled quality control, instrument maintenance and calibration procedures according to manufacturer information
  • Collects specimens and performs laboratory tests
  • Documents all clinical patient phone calls per the organization’s recommendations
  • Screens patient phone calls

Qualifications

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Graduation from a medical assisting or emergency medical technician program or documentation from the licensing authority confirming that medical assistant/emergency medical technician education is not a requirement for certification preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • CCMA, CMA-AAM, CMA-C, EMT, EMT-A, EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P, LIC PAR, NCMA, NRCMA, RMA-AAH, RMA-AAMP, RMA-AMT, or RMA-ARMA preferred
  • 1-year related work experience preferred
