Texas Capital Bank is currently looking for an experienced risk approval professional with a sound understanding of deposit products, treasury services products, derivatives, and the associated risks.. This risk officer will have the responsibility for evaluating, approving and monitoring specialized deposit and treasury programs, credit and operating risks associated with customized deposit relationships, providing opinions and recommendations regarding risks arising from potential new products or modifications to exiting products, as well as evaluating proposed customer agreements. Responsibilities will require significant input on policies related to treasury services products, managing risks associated with specialized deposit and treasury services programs, and evaluating various counterparty exposures. The officer will ensure all due diligence and background evaluation is complete and acceptable before approval is given to execute customized deposit agreements. The officer will also have more traditional credit approval responsibilities for related lines of business.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and provides recommendations, and sometimes final approval, for potential credit, operational and reputational risks associated with the deposit, treasury services, and other banking products .
  • Reviews specialized deposit account and treasury agreements to ensure applicable business terms are contained in the documents and provides input regarding any necessary modifications.
  • Partners with operational leadership to monitor and manage customer compliance with the terms of specialized product programs and provides ongoing review of related risk controls .
  • Reviews, and negotiates with internal groups and legal counsel, where necessary, key terms and provisions under which business arrangements will be
  • Enacts and ensures the effective administration of corporate policies and procedures related to the specialized agreement or product process across impacted
  • .Accompanies Treasury & Liquidity Sales Relationship Managers on client visits when
  • Evaluates the credit of institutional counterparties and proposes appropriate limits and structures.
  • Provide credit approval for other lending activities - assess acceptability of cash flow, collateral, structure, due diligence, loan agreement terms, and other key considerations of extending business

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in banking with formal Credit training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Commercial Banking or equivalent training program.
  • Experience in a credit and/or risk approval role involving material experience with deposit and treasury-related products
  • Completion of a formal credit training program or equivalent credit approval experience
  • Experience in extending credit
  • Experience in a credit approval role preferred
  • College degree in Business Administration or a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience related to specialized banking [see second bullet; redundant?]
  • Good understanding of deposit and treasury products, operations and product delivery and the associated credit and operational risks inherent with these types of products
  • A high level of analytical skill to assess and manage areas of responsibility including determination of risk involved in treasury-related transactions and able to make final approval decisions
  • A high level of interpersonal skills to communicate policies, procedures and objectives effectively throughout the Bank and to represent the Bank positively to the public including cultivating working relationships with current and potential customers
  • Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Word. Strong written and verbal skills
  • Knowledge of current banking laws and regulations
  • Ability to apply the principles of credit risk management to a broad range of exposures arising from a variety of products
  • Ability to apply the principles of operational risk management in a way that supports strategic business objectives
  • Knowledge of financial statement analysis with the ability to determine overall creditworthiness
  • Ability to review legal agreements related to standard and specialized banking arrangements to ensure appropriate business terms are contained in the documents
