What we want The Program Specialist II recruits and advises online graduate students within the Bush School concerning their career goals and academic requirements; provides information on and refers students to University resources that can assist in meeting their needs or solving problems; may supervise projects. This Program Specialist II reports to the Assistant Director of the Bush Schools Office of Extended Education and provides direct support for the instructional enhancement activities for the Office of Extended Education (OEE). What You Need To Know Compensation: Minimum salary starting at $46,924.81 Resume: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended. Other Factors: Ability to travel occasionally. Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Two years’ experience in advising, recruiting, teaching, coaching, Student Affairs or other related area. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and information systems software. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to plan and organize effectively. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Knowledge of student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits. Ability to present information clearly and concisely. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications: One or more years’ experience in advising nontraditional graduate and distance education students. Two or more years of higher education academic advising experience. Experience using a CRM preferably Salesforce. Recruiting experience at conferences, symposiums, graduate and professional school fairs, career fairs, and other events. Working knowledge of Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) platform, spreadsheets, word processing, Banner 9, and Howdy. Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently. Valid class “C” vehicle operator’s license. Essential Duties/Tasks: Graduate Academic Advising - Provides academic advising for graduate students. Advises for course selection, registration, academic planning, educational goal setting, add/drop and withdrawal procedures, scholarship and financial aid processes, degree plans, and certificate completion. Manages for academic requirements and implements intervention strategies for students who receive academic alerts or who need assistance in maintaining or improving their academic standing. Facilitates timely degree plan and graduation application submission. First point of contact for all Executive Masters students. Online Course Support and Retention - Provides the Bush School Online students with assistance in course issues related to online technologies and participation requirements in online courses with the intent to provide superior support and ensure continuous enrollment. Identifies challenges to program retention and provides resources to help ensure continuous enrollment. Reaches out to students not participating in online courses to encourage them and assist if they are having technical issues. Provides quality checks for online courses before release. Career and Resources Advising - Advises students concerning career goal options and career resources. Provides information about and refers students to University resources that can assist in meeting the students’ needs and goals. Student Event Support - Assists and supports student residency weeks, graduation celebrations, and various other student events. Program Recruitment - Promote and recruit for Online Extended Education Programs offered by the Bush School of Government & Public Service. Performs additional duties as assigned.
