What we want The Clinical Research Coordinator, under general supervision, supervises and coordinates personnel and facilitates research projects. Assists with the selection, enrollment, education, testing, data entry, and monitoring of research project subjects. Provides nursing care to research subjects enrolled in studies. When not engaged in clinical research activities, non-research clinical duties will be performed. What you need to know Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience (such as an LVN plus two years of experience, Certified Medical Assistant plus 6 years of experience) Two years of related experience in clinical environment/research. Required Licenses and Certifications: Current licensure/certification for respective medical profession. (For example, if a Registered Nurse, must have current TX licensure.) CPR certification. Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) certification or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bilingual English and Spanish. Knowledge Of General Nursing Procedures. Interpersonal And Communication Skills. Ability To Plan and Organize Effectively. Knowledge Of HIPAA Guidelines. General Understanding of Electronic Medical Record Systems. Ability To Multi-Task and Work Cooperatively with Others. Phlebotomy Trained. Preferred Qualifications: Texas Vaccines for Children Course Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program) IRB Biomed Basic Course Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records. Two Years of Research Project Administration. Responsibilities: Research Study Management: Manages subjects (and their blood work) involved in research projects; coordinates personnel, facilities, and subject recruitment for multiple projects. Implements, manages, and analyzes study protocols. Conducts interviews with study participants to assess their suitability for a study and to monitor their progress during the study. Tracks information about study participants including vital signs, results of diagnostic tests, and symptoms of illness. Teaches participants about the study procedures and how to use study devices or medications. Schedules appointments for participants with study physicians or other healthcare professionals as needed Lab/Clinic Support: Completes lab requests; distributes lab results to physician. Obtains clinical reports from affiliated organizations. Screens calls for provider, responds to messages from patients and other callers, calls in refills and administers injections as ordered to assist the provider. Assures cleanliness and prevention of spread of infection in patient care areas, clean exam and treatment rooms, exam table, countertops, and doorknobs, as needed. Gathers, sets up and assists provider in performing variety of patient procedures to maximize patient outcome. Research Participant Care: Provides patient care activities daily: transfer patients from reception to patient care areas, measure vital signs, assesses patients, organize, and adjusts physician schedule to meet patient needs, dispense medications, document testing and results in medical records, and document all nursing activities in the electronic medical record. Interviews patients to assess changes and update health information in the electronic medical record. Assists the physician in maintaining electronic medical record. Inventory Management: Checks stock medication supplies daily, orders medial and pharmacy supplies as needed; maintains inventories and records pertinent to medical supplies, medications, and drugs in accordance with the policies and procedures for the practice. Assists in the organization and upkeep of central nurse’s station. Quality Assurance: Collaborates with other members of the research team during the analysis phase. Designs and implements appropriate Quality Control and Quality Assurance processes, clinical data gathering, interpretation, and analysis. Performs other duties as assigned.
