Job TitleMaintenance Foreman II Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Vernon Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationVernon, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description The Maintenance Foreman II, under general direction, creates work assignments and schedules, may,. supervise employees and work crews, supervises maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery and upkeep of buildings and grounds. Responsibilities: Supervise a work crew including planning and scheduling all efforts to maintain all buildings, facilities and grounds in good working order at the Vernon Center, at the Chillicothe Research Station, and as needed, at the Smith Walker Research Unit. Prepare time and attendance reports as necessary. Assist supervisor with budget planning for construction and repairs with by preparing time, material, and labor estimates. Work with supervisor by scheduling assignments received and maintaining focus of effort toward completion of assignments. Also ensure that workers supervised are trained to do jobs that they will be expected to perform independently to increase future productivity and efficiency of operation. Duties include building inspection for cleanliness and proper working order; maintenance and repair of mechanical systems such as lighting, heating, and air conditioning systems; working on the roof; building renovation; electrical work; general plumbing including sprinkler and irrigation systems. Adjust thermostats in all buildings when directed. Maintain storage areas, and participate as necessary in all activities supervised and defined. Supervise maintenance and repair of all equipment and machinery as needed for operation and upkeep of all buildings, research farms and grounds. Possess and maintain a high skill level with use of all Center shop equipment and specialized project equipment where applicable. Serve as Shop Safety Officer by training employees in the safe operation/use of all shop equipment and other job related equipment where applicable. Evaluate the skill of the trained employee and report the results on the appropriate form to the Center Business Office to fulfill System training safety protocol. Supervise and perform landscaping including repair and maintenance of the equipment required for the work to include but not limited to; yard, signage, minor fencing, parking lot, road, irrigation pump, small engine, spraying, and any other equipment involved in grounds maintenance as skill set allows. Supervise and perform pesticide application to building and grounds as needed and directed. Supervise, coordinate, direct, and perform periodic floor buffing and waxing to maintain a desirable lasting appearance as well as other needed duties for normal custodial treatment at the Vernon Center and Chillicothe Research Station. Coordinate and supervise equipment repairs and building maintenance and act as liaison when requested by the Business Administrator for the Center and repair contractors. Perform construction and renovation of book shelves, walls, doors, roofs, windows, closets, and do painting, laying carpet, replace door locks and hardware, as well as various and sundry plumbing repairs and replacements from sewer lines, to water faucets, and sprinkler irrigation system for landscaping. Ensure facilities are ready for public use, conferences, field days and meetings, including reviewing activities calendar, and supervise assigned staff in arranging tables and chairs, assisting with equipment setup. Fulfill the responsibility of daily building security, including checking and maintaining fire alarm and lightning alarm systems for buildings and grounds. Ensure vehicles are maintained in good working order and preventative maintenance is performed regularly. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: -High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Five years of related experience. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software programs. -Good communication skills. -Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
