Job TitleResearch Associate Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Overton Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationOverton, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description The Research Associate will perform independent and supervisory roles in soil science and soil biology research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in soil science and soil biology. Learning requirements are predominantly intellectual and varied in character and require consistent use of discretion and judgment. Prepare proposals for funding agencies, prepare manuscripts for publication, data analysis using statistical reference, operation of research equipment, supervision of graduate students and other lab/field personnel in research. This position is grant funded; future employment may be contingent upon future funding. Responsibilities: -Design, plan, conduct and coordinate experiments in the field, greenhouse and laboratory to support various research projects -Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques of routine soil science and soil biology research; keep detailed records of data. -Use computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results - Develop new soil analyzing methods, learn new instrumentation operation and maintenance. -Summarize results for inclusion in scientific and clientele-oriented publications. -Prepare and write proposals to funding agencies; maintain financial accounts related to research projects. -Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research. -Install, operate and/or repair research equipment. -Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: -Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. -Two years of related professional experience. Preferred Education and Experience: -Prefer MS degree in Soil Science or relevant field. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment. -Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks. -Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others. All positions are security-sensitive.
