Job TitleProject Coordinator I Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service Department Soil & Crop Sciences Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationLubbock, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description Project Coordinator I—Lubbock, Texas (part to full time) Position Overview: Position covers duties as 0.6-1.0 full-time equivalent Extension and research coordinator within the alternative crops program based at Lubbock, TX. Candidate will supervise day-to-day activities of the Texas A&M AgriLife—Lubbock extension agronomist. This includes regional Texas High Plains work as well as coordination of 1) week-to-week activities of a winter/summer cool-season oilseeds project that is conducted from the Lower Rio Grande Valley to Northeast Texas (through Fall 2026), and 2) completing the second year of a joint Sicily-Texas A&M wheat project based at McGregor, TX. Lubbock regional field duties will cover diverse crops that will serve as an excellent foundation for broad cropping practices including sunflower, guar, wheat, summer annual forages, fiber industrial hemp, sesame. Position includes health insurance and other benefits. Position Duties: Texas High Plains: Responsible for organizing, planting, managing, harvesting, and data management as necessary for applied research and/or demonstration trials under the direction of supervisor. Assist Lubbock Extension Agronomist in compiling results and conclusions of applied research. Coordinates and assists with in-season collection of data. Utilizes various computer programs for data management. Assist preparation of summaries for extension publication and posting on A&M Ag. Program websites. Coordinates and assists the development of project reports. Prepares preliminary reports and periodically presents results at industry and extension meetings if needed. Overarching duties will lead to solid training on numerous crops providing an excellent background for professional work in agronomy. Experience with farm, small plot research equipment, and small plot research is necessary. May supervise 1-2 student assistants. Downstate: Fulfill coordination duties for the oilseeds and wheat project noted in the Position Overview. Some travel will be required to implement and conduct project work at the McGregor winter cropping field site through 2026. (Other oilseed sites are maintained by AgriLife faculty.) Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a campus-based scientific agricultural discipline or closely related science and three (3) years of related experience. Preferred Education and Experience Master's degree in related field. Required Licenses: Employer will provide time and support to successfully obtain required commercial/non-commercial pesticide applicator's license from Texas Dept. of Agriculture.
