Safety Technician

Overview:
The Safety Technician will support and drive safety efforts and the client’s culture of safety, support safety compliance, accountability, and administer a safety management system.
Responsibilities:
· Operate as an experienced assistant to an Health, Safety, & Environmental specialist on a project or contract in the field or office
· Basic working knowledge of the Company’s Health, Safety, & Environmental standards, programs and goals by learning and applying Health, Safety, & Environmental procedures as established by the Company through departmental training on a project site or in an office.
· Assist higher level Health, Safety, & Environmental practices policies and procedures staff in conducting surveys, evaluations, inspections, and investigations of incidents and activities
· Gather data as directed by supervisor to be used to monitor and track Health, Safety, & Environmental practices policies and procedures standards, programs and goals
· Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
· 2 years direct experience in a safety role
· Working knowledge of safety and health rules, regulations and OSHA standards
· Safety experience in a heavy industrial environment
· Experience with safety management systems
· Commitment to safety in all job aspects
· Ability to take direction and drive both policy and cultural safety standards
· Comfortable speaking in front of groups
· Strong leadership skills
· Strong computer skills
· Knowledge of OSHA VPP, OSHA 500, & OSHA 501
· Knowledge of behavioral based safety programs
· Experience administering first-aid treatment
· Experience involving Workers Compensation case management
· Nationally recognized certifications in safety a plus, such as NCCER: CSSS (Construction Site Safety Supervisor); CSST (Construction Site Safety Technician); FS (Field Safety); ST (Safety Technology)
· First Aid/ CPR a plus
