Job Title: Purchasing Specialist
Department: Purchasing and Inventory
Reports To: Purchasing and Inventory Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Hours: M-F, 9:30am to 6pm, NO holidays or weekends
POSITION SUMMARY:
Manages inventories and oversees purchasing for all warehouses and customer orders.
Interacts daily with personnel on-site and at remote shipping locations, as well as the teams at the Customer Care Center, Sales Team and the Corporate Office.

Ability to learn and retain knowledge of TED products. Excellent oral/written communication skills. Knowledge of MS Office 2000/Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel), SAGE100 experience preferred. Excellent phone etiquette. Ability to multi-task. Customer service driven, teamwork-oriented, professional, upbeat, energetic, takes initiative, dependable, takes pride in work. Detail-oriented- performs in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions. Exemplify TED’s Core Values.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Highschool Diploma or G.E.D. Minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, purchase orders and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
