What to Expect

Inaddition to developing manufacturing process and assembly strategies,Manufacturing Engineers work with cross-functional teams throughout the entireproduct lifecycle. You will work closely with Design Engineering, ProductIntegration, Factory Design, Quality and Production to take vehicle designchanges and new vehicle designs from initial concept through prototypedevelopment and into full production.

What You'll Do
  • Interface with Teslacross-functional teams (design engineering, GA process ME, operations, qualityengineering, and supply chain) to review the manufacturing feasibility ofproduct designs in General Assembly to deliver on best-in-class cost, function,and quality metrics
  • Provide detailedequipment recommendation for part or all line conveyances, on ground/overheadstructures, product transfers, and overall flow for subassembly and/or mainassembly lines that is the best for cost, maintenance, product assembly, designfor manufacturing (DFM), and overall total cost of ownership (TCO)
  • Develop processdocumentation and project planning documents like Request for Quotes (RFQs),project timeline charts, assembly sequence flows, PFMEAs, Quality ControlPlans, technical standards, and CAPEX/OPEX analyses
  • Support thedevelopment and introduction of processes and equipment associated with earlyprototype builds and highlight key process and equipment improvementopportunities for the final production lines
  • Work closely withTesla's partner vendors to develop world-class production lines withunprecedented simplicity, density, speed, and automation
  • Work closely withTesla's factory design, facilities, and EHS teams to ensure production linelayouts and equipment are optimized for the most efficient factory design
  • Support the design,installation, commissioning, and ramp of high-volume production lines, ensuringclose collaboration with Tesla's partner vendors and internal stakeholders todeliver the line in the shortest possible time and lowest possible cost
  • Initiate and drivestrategies to rapidly ramp the quality and rate of newly launched productionlines to full capacity with a focus on maintaining the highest of safetystandards throughout the ramp duration
  • Build on the successof existing line layouts, processes, and tooling to further improve materialflow, waste reduction, safety, and ergonomics by utilizing lean manufacturingbest practices and structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Provide leadershipto cross-functional teams on manufacturing engineering topics and strive toimprove the overall efficiency of the manufacturing engineering team throughmentoring and knowledge sharing
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering, evidence of exceptional ability or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of relatedexperience developing and launching complex assembly processes
  • A 'can-do' attitudewith open mindedness and a strong desire to think 'outside the box'
  • The ability intaking initiative, managing competing demands, collaborating closely withothers, and remaining positive in high-pressure environments
  • A demonstratedability to be detail-oriented and make data-based decisions, owning assignmentsand taking full accountability for their successful and timely delivery
  • Flexibility andadaptability to changing priorities and assignments, coping with rapidlychanging inputs, constraints, and priorities
  • Strong familiaritywith structured problem-solving methodologies such as DMAIC, 5 Whys, Fishbone,and 8D
  • Hands-on experiencewith modifying jigs, fixtures, and coordinating equipment installations
  • Good understandingof BOMs, OEE, manufacturability, DFM, process design, process validation,assembly methods, design reviews and cost reduction methodologies
  • Experience withAUTOCAD, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, and other similar software/tools

Expected Compensation

$80,000 - $258,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
