What to Expect

Teslais seeking a highly motivated Equipment Engineer to contribute to thedevelopment and improvement of new automation equipment and assembly lines forour Energy products manufacturing operations. A manufacturing equipmentengineer in the production engineering team will be a part of operating,sustaining, and improving some of the most automated manufacturing equipment inthe world. The best candidate for the position has a high aptitude to learn newskillsets in the position. The expectation is that engineers will start withstrengths in a given field (AUTOCAD, robotics, PLC Programming, vision, Python,HMI scripting, etc) and then learn all other areas from those who work withthem. This role requires capability across the board to sustain all parts ofthe automated equipment.

What You'll Do
  • Sustain24 by 7 production operations through responding to and resolving breakdownsquickly and efficiently to minimize downtime
  • Activeleader of a cross functional TPM team while taking on improvement projects toassist in improving the factory. Diagnoses equipment failures, findsroot cause and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness. Leadequipment upgrades with a focus on serviceability, reliability and processcapability
  • Developand improve equipment validation procedures including calibration andqualification
  • BecomeExpert Level Trainer on all machines in assigned area and be responsible forthe level of knowledge of Shift technicians. Provide hands-onsupport to maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve extended downtimesituations
  • Takesinitiative to create, implement and improve Preventative and PredictiveMaintenance documents and schedules, under the direction of the MaintenancePlanner
  • Programladder logic and structured text on multiple PLC controller platforms(Allen-Bradley, Siemens). Program and teach industrial 6-axis robots(Fanuc) Sequence complex, multi-station machinery for material pick-and-place,dispense, fastening, welding and conveyance applications
  • Participatein spare part analysis and inventory development, cost reduction, improvementworking with Spares Department to RMA faulty components and communicate needsto the vendor
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor'sDegree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronic, orequivalent experience
  • Experiencewith PLC programming, troubleshooting and configuration. Goodoverall computer skills with demonstrated ability in either Beckhoff orSiemens, programming languages, preferred
  • Experiencecommissioning and improving Equipment. Have a demonstrated trackrecord of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement, Preventative andPredictive Maintenance activities, preferred
  • Roboticsmaintenance, troubleshooting, optimization & teaching, preferred
  • 3 years in a highly automated, high volume manufacturing facility, goodunderstanding of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Safety,Ergonomics, Change Point Management, Spare Parts Management, is a plus
  • Strongproblem solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly. Ableto utilize structured problem solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, FiveWhy (5W) or Eight Disciplines (8D). Able to resolve high levelperformance issues into addressable actions, preferred
  • Able toread and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics,experience developing and improving HMI's, Fanuc Robotics / IgnitionExperience, preferred
  • Strongability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within amanufacturing and engineering organization. This includes excellentcommunication skills: written and verbal
  • Creativecapacity for developing new ways to do things better, cheaper, faster inalignment with the Tesla approach to revolutionary product development, is aplus
  • Passionfor making fantastic new products and using testing as a means to enable anengineering organization to achieve outstanding quality, reliability andexcellence. Willing to perform shift work (nights) and overtime asrequired
