Terry Hines & Associates is Hiring a Publicist/Account Executive, African American Division (LOS ANGELES BASED) Near Burbank, CA

THE MRKT is the multicultural marketing and communications division of Terry Hines & Associates (THA), a leading entertainment-marketing firm for over 40 years. Founded in 2003, our specialized one-stop shop offers a comprehensive approach to connecting with diverse multicultural demographics via culture and lifestyle, over stereotypes and assumptions.

As a multicultural marketing partner for several major motion picture studios, television networks, streaming services, and consumer brands the division primarily specializes in marketing entertainment properties to LatinX, African-American, AAPI and LGBTQIA consumers across the country via a wide range of services, including targeted publicity, promotions, grassroots, partnerships, creative content and advertising, digital/social media, and influencer marketing.

Summary/Objective

As an Account Executive/Publicist on our multicultural marketing team, this person will be responsible for strategizing, implementing and overseeing multi-platform targeted marketing campaigns specifically aimed at diverse audiences for major entertainment accounts.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop a trusted, constructive and proactive relationship with the client and their team

  • Act as liaison between studio and the entire publicity/promotions team, both LatinX, African-American and AAPI as necessary per client. Keep both the client and department executives informed on the status of projects on a regular basis

  • Develop internal directives for assigned accounts; lead brainstorm sessions and contribute creative and fresh thinking

  • Pitch and procure publicity, promotions, and partnership opportunities with select assigned outlets, bringing innovative opportunities based on new partners, current trends, and upcoming activations

  • Manage delivery of campaign items to ensure all deadlines are met

  • Prioritize and execute day-to-day publicity and promotional directives

  • Develop/review all client-related communications, including campaign proposals/plans, tailored directives, pitch emails, status reports, event overviews/recaps, final reports, translations, and advertising & promotions creative (e.g., advertising, promo ads, one-sheets, etc.)

  • Manage (and, when necessary, attend) events including, but not limited to: junkets, press days, PA tours, stunts, screenings, etc. Manage campaign budgets and billing processes

  • Assist in the research and identifying of upcoming and existing entertainment projects

  • Take an active role in the business development of the department, including identifying opportunities and helping to develop new revenue streams with assigned clients, as well as contributing to presentations/proposals with fresh strategic thinking and participating in pitch meetings.

  • Lives in Los Angeles area

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to keep focused when performing a variety of projects simultaneously

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

  • Punctuality and reliability

  • Able to commit to non-traditional work hours, as some projects will require over-time and evenings/weekends activities both in the office and off-site

  • Working knowledge of: Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Electronic Mail Software (MacMail); and Presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote)

Education and Experience

A minimum of a Bachelors’ degree is preferred. Minimum of two years previous experience in an agency, professional services, or entertainment environment. Experience working within a multicultural environment a plus. A combination of education and experience may be accepted

Physical Requirements

Must be comfortable working remotely, with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a telephone, and working on a computer. May be required to type, write, speak, hear, touch with fingertips, grip, reach, and follow multi-part instructions, with or without accommodation. Must be able to occasionally lift 20 pounds.
