So, what will the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) at Terrestris do?
As an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), your role involves providing comprehensive cyber security, system administration, and network administration services for a variety of Department of Defense (DoD) systems. You will adhere to the guidelines specified in the Department of Defense Joint SAP Implementation Guide (DoD JSIG) as well as relevant DoD, Department of the Air Force (DAF), Air Combat Command (ACC), and 57th Wing security policies. Your responsibilities encompass managing the security, administration, and networking tasks for assigned Automated Information Systems (AIS) in accordance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements. This includes ensuring compliance with applicable security policies and regulations throughout your duties.
You will also adjust workload distribution based on factors such as system location, ownership, oversight requirements, and complexity, ensuring effective support across all assigned networks and systems. Collaboration with 3rd party organizations or agencies managing guest systems is essential to ensure proper security measures are in place and maintained. Continuously monitoring and updating security measures to mitigate risks and safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems remains a key aspect of your role.
What does a typical day look like for the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)?
You will:
  • Manage AIS RMF BOE and associated requirements.
  • Analyze network security and advise on certification.
  • Conduct AIS risk assessments and make recommendations.
  • Advise on security testing methodologies.
  • Evaluate certification documentation and provide recommendations.
  • Coordinate security inspections and tests.
  • Implement security education and awareness programs.
  • Manage AIS vulnerability patches and configuration changes.
  • Conduct security audits and account management.
  • Participate in compliance audits.
  • Maintain knowledge of system functions and security measures.
  • Manage Media Control Program and perform virus scanning.
  • Oversee AIS disposition and destruction.
  • Perform software support and network maintenance.
  • Design, install, and maintain classified networks.
  • Manage data backup and antivirus installation.
  • Handle user accounts and authentication mechanisms.
  • Accomplish COMSEC training and manage related duties.
What qualifications do you look for?
You might be the leader we're looking for if you have:
  • An active Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI.
  • Eligibility for SAPs, Restricted Data, Formerly Restricted Data, CNWDI, and any other caveats.
  • Proficiency at installing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware.
  • Ability to assemble twisted pair and install fiber optic network cables.
  • Proficiency working with the following software: Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory Services, Domain Name System (DNS), BitLocker, Microsoft Windows Enterprise, Microsoft Office, Jetico BC Wipe, and other software/versions.
  • Possesses one of the following certifications:
    • CGRC/CAP, CASP , CCSP, Cloud , SSCP, Security , or GSEC
  • A minimum of one year of direct professional experience with DoD JSIG RMF and network management security requirements.
