Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Integrated Product Team Lead – Electrical Power Systems, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, prototype, and qualification of components and sub-system modules capable of withstanding launch vehicle and space environments. Associated design efforts will include mass optimization, passive thermal control accommodations, manufacturability, and assembly for electrical power modules. The Mechanical Engineer works closely with the structural, thermal, electrical, system, and manufacturing disciplines to meet design and operational requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the lead mechanical engineer to design packaging for modules with consideration for mass, cost, and manufacturability
- Work with manufacturing on identifying risks to design and automation improvements for manufacturing
- Support release of full stack drawings to production release
- Install drawings
- Assembly drawings
- Full module 2D drawings
- Work with engineers for the design of test fixtures
- Work cross-functionally with vehicle-level mechanical team on integration and mating features
- Be curious and ask questions to solve design problems and support leads in achieving design deadlines and issue resolutions.
- Participate in module-level validation, such as environmental and structural qualifications
- Participate in module design reviews looking at molding, stamping, tolerance stack and other key design elements
- Participate in DFMEA for module design
- Support of documentation for design notebook
Qualifications and Skills
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline
- 1-5 years’ experience
- Proficient in the interpretation and application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
- Proficiency in working with Computer Aided Design tools
- Detail-oriented and positive approach to learning and investigating designs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team environment
- Able to effectively work on multiple projects running in parallel
- Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
Additional Differentiators
- Experience working with related space applications.
- Proficient in working with SolidWorks and EPDM.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, assembly, and testing from an Aerospace industry.

Salary Range $90,000-$110,000
Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
