We believe in creative thinking and collaboration to help build a better mobility experience for everyone, improving people’s ability to move – whether for work or play.What we do: The Sr. Aircraft Electrical Power Systems Engineer is responsible for building our power management capabilities from the ground up and assisting in developing and tracking power properties to aid with electrical loads/voltage drop development, electrical wiring interconnect system (EWIS) development, aircraft performance trade studies, cost, and more. This position requires an experienced professional with expertise in power analysis/budgeting and control during various phases of aircraft design/development to certification. This position reports to the Head of Systems Engineering and provides technical solutions/guidance for the entire engineering team.Supernal provides an inviting open-space workplace designed to foster collaboration, which aligns with one of our core values. This position is required to work on-site 5 days a week.What you can do:Leads and participates in system-level trades to ensure the vehicle design meets all physical, electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements while accommodating the required payload, power, propulsion, thermal, communications, and attitude control system requirementsPerform electrical system architecture, design and analysisConduct advanced design power estimation to develop preliminary power estimates to support advanced design proposals, prototyping efforts, trade studies, etc.Perform estimation, calculation, and develop methods of measurement for verification of power requirements for LRUs, components, assemblies, and complete systems.Develop the analysis methods and tools for power managementEstimate, calculate, and verify mass properties of LRUs, components, assemblies, and complete systems in support of trade studies and drawing/component releaseManage/perform testing of aircraft wiring harness including bonding and groundingWork with the broader engineering team to conduct multi-disciplinary trade studies to guide through design decisionsGenerate and maintain power reports to key stakeholders of various cross-functional teamsDevelop, support, and execute test plans to verify power properties (voltage drops, current distribution, on/off power timing, power quality, etc.)Track, maintain, and own power distribution inside a databasePartner with PMO organization to execute build planRequires up to 10% of domestic and international travelOther duties as assignedWhat you can contribute:Bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering, physics, or related engineering field requiredMinimum of five (5) years of experience as a power management engineer in an aerospace organization (an equivalent combination of education experience may be considered)Experience working on aircraft electrical systems (ATA24)Experience working with high voltage DC systemsExperience working with aircraft 28VDC systemsExperience with flight critical aircraft systemsExperience developing and maintaining a Power Management and Control PlanExperience with supplier/vendor requirements, monitoring, and weight controlExperience with technical disciplines and principles of structures, aerodynamics, propulsions, avionics, interiors, flight test, manufacturingExperience with aircraft conceptual designExperience with electric propulsion air or ground vehiclesExperience with high-rate automotive manufacturing preferredExperience with FAA or EASA certification process part (23/25/27/29)Experience working with regulatory agenciesExperience in aircraft (OEM) level systems engineeringExperience in CATIA V5/V6Knowledge of Cable Bundle Design, Wire Harness Design, Wire routing and Sizing Power Distribution, Voltage Conversion and RedundancyAbility to perform Power Budget and Voltage Drop AnalysisKnowledge of Aerospace Connectors and EMI Cable ShieldingElectrical Interconnect Design to Aerospace StandardsKnowledge of EWIS aerospace standards/ requirements definitionKnowledge of Aircraft EMI / EMC Design and Testing for Composite AirframeFamiliarity with ATA100, or predecessorsKnowledge of a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software such as 3D ExperienceProficiency with Jira (Agile tool)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsProactive delivery of communication and follow upExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailYou may also be able to contribute:Master’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering, physics, or related engineering field preferredAny offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check.
