Summary/Objective: Responsible for the design and preparation of plans, details, construction budgets, code compliance, design calculations, and specifications for assigned projects. Responsible for implementation of Quality Control - Quality Assurance practices for the project. Work and coordinate with other staff as needed to meet project requirements.
Essential Functions
• Interfaces with various disciplines to ensure design process is coordinated, complete and comprehensive
• Develops design concepts, studies, design alternatives, project budgets, establishes design criteria, and recommends solutions
• Advises and oversees the engineering team/performs analysis and design calculations, documents design procedures, and assures design is in
compliance with codes and standards
• Advises and oversees the engineering team/prepares the project deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and construction cost estimates
• Prepares proposals for new work, and develops project scope, schedule and budget
• Monitors projects to assure maintenance of schedule and budget, and that the design is consistent with project criteria and scope of work
• Recognizes out-of-scope work and brings it to the attention of the Project Manager
• Provides training to other staff
• Coordinates permit requirements and obtains the necessary permits
• Performs field investigations and condition evaluations as assigned
• Performs other duties as required by Project Managers/Department Manager
Education/Experience/Skills
• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or related fields
• 6 years of engineering, transportation-related design and site development experience
• Demonstrates the ability to exercise good engineering judgment
• Experienced in engineering standards, concepts, design criteria and procedures within a particular field or discipline
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to write reports
• Professional registration
