Tennessee Valley Authority is Hiring a Specialist, Int Controls, Reporting and Contract Support Near Chattanooga, TN

Provide broad-based and diverse project management support for the TVA Non-Nuclear generating asset portfolio. Provides expert consultation in partnership with management on various business operations, process improvement and technical initiatives. This is a professional that will advise management in the areas of operational effectiveness, capacity utilization, industry benchmarking, project management and/or strategic planning initiatives. Serves as an expert within assigned business unit providing consultation to management and project teams to achieve strategic objectives. Additionally, drive efforts for continuous improvement of processes, controls, procedures, and documentation. Performs special assignments of a wide variety of highly sensitive and visible special projects and will interact with senior management on a regular basis and identifies opportunities for improved organizational effectiveness and drives continuous improvement efforts. Independently plans and executes major tasks, including those involving issues of recognized complexity. Driving marketing, customer support, business development and expanding product offerings, image enhancement of the organization through various goals and objectives tied to the strategy and direction.

This position will be mostly a remote position.


JOB DIMENSIONS
:

Supervisory Responsibility — No direct responsibility. Periodically lead project/initiative teams of 2 to 12 people in a cross-functional matrix aligned environment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support the development and execution of the Long-Range Project Plan to support Power Operations major maintenance schedules. Includes Capital and supporting O&M budgeting.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a five year Hydro Life Extension plan and portfolio prioritization.
  • Coordinate and maintain project performance indicators and scorecards. Utilizes the performance indicators to evaluate/analyze project/department performance, develop and implement corrective actions and monitor improvement plan effectiveness.
  • Develop and manage a process for monthly and quarterly reports for performance management of safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Provides key project and business support services, tools, processes, and procedures for the development, management, and implementation of projects, as well as any other project or business initiative implemented by GP&SS.
  • Lead and conduct reviews of processes, procedures, and agreements and modify/update as appropriate to reflect current and best practices. Develop new processes and procedures that anticipate the changing needs of today’s electric power markets.
  • Coordinate and/or support design and development of Strategic Project presentations, white papers, and other critical responses.
  • Support the development and implementation of GP&SS organizational initiatives related to continuous improvement, performance initiatives and gap closure.
  • Manages a wide variety of high visibility and high impact projects and special assignments. Assignments will require a high degree of diplomacy and tact in addressing sensitive issues and concerns with senior level management.
  • Management of contractor analysis and reporting to ensure organizational compliance with Contractor Workforce Management Policy and organizational exception.
  • Lead standardization and process improvements for Strategic Projects and processes.
  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership oversight to Strategic Projects.
  • Provide support for the Design Change Notice process.
  • Manage other special projects or assignments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education — Bachelor degree in business, finance, engineering or the equivalent in education, training, & experience. MBA or other similar advanced degree is a plus.

Experience — 10 or more years in the utility industry or directly related to the business unit supported. Must include experience related to business operations, process improvement, project management and/or financial analysis.

Certification/License, etc. — Lean Six Sigma, Project Management, or related professional certifications desired.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — Broad knowledge of TVA as an organization, its business model, and the complexity of TVA functioning as a public power utility. Demonstrated leadership and support of TVA’s strategic goals. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to provide advice and solutions to complex problems. Ability to create and deliver project status/results to Senior Management. Ability to quickly establish and develop strong working relationships. Power Apps & Power BI experience preferred. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
