Junior Software Developer ApprenticeAbout Our OfficeThe Office of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury is responsible for the audit of state and local governmental entities and participates in the general financial and administrative management and oversight of state government. The Office is led by Comptroller Jason E. Mumpower, a constitutional officer who is elected by the Tennessee General Assembly.In the Comptroller’s Office, we strive to deliver on our mission to make government work better. PositionThis position requires a motivated individual who is seeking an opportunity to grow their skills as a junior developer in our apprenticeship program. As a junior developer apprentice, you will work alongside experienced developers and mentors to gain hands-on experience in enterprise web development in an Agile environment. Our apprenticeship program is designed to equip aspiring developers with the skills and experience necessary to kick-start a career in the tech industry.Major responsibilities for this position will include: 
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of software solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and solve technical challenges.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Learn and adopt new technologies as required.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the team and project through active participation and collaboration.
  • Follow best practices and coding standards
Education and ExperienceTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the competency, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • To qualify for consideration, an applicant should have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Basic understanding of software development concepts and principles.
  • Some experience with programming languages such as (but not limited to) C# and ASP.Net Core.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and eagerly learn from experienced developers.
  • Commitment to learning and continual improvement.
  • Adaptable to change and innovative thought processes.
  • Technical communication skills for interacting with both developers and stakeholders.
  • Passion for technology and a strong desire to pursue a career in software development.
