KVS Team Leader

JOB SCOPE:Direct and lead all employees within the area of responsibility. Assist the area Supervisor in completing production requirements, evaluating employee performance, managing productivity and enring quality to are at pre-determined levels. Coordinates employees training and cross training while maintaining company policies and a safe work environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and leads all employees within the area of responsibility in coordination and in the absence of the area Supervisor. Leads by example, maintains professionalism, and treats everyone with respect in all aspects of the position.
  • Displays a high standard of professionalism, ethics, integrity and consistency in all actions and communications at all times. Holds themselves and their team members accountable to Tenneco's Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Works with employees to ensure compliance with all safety policies/requirements/daily safety checks and recommends modifications to equipment and processes to improve the safety of the facility. Immediately stops any unsafe activities. Reinforces positive safety actions and coaches when improvement is needed.
  • Leads stretching activities.
  • Monitors and drives team's performance. Coordinates manpower requirements and assigns work to maximize productivity with a focus on bottlenecks. Regularly reviews production white boards and addresses identified issues to ensure productivity metrics are met. Recommends overtime when necessary to meet on-time delivery goals.
  • Works with employees to resolve any work-related concerns or escalates them to the supervisor or appropriate area for resolution.
  • Understands the quality requirement for their area and ensures compliance with each. Analyzes rejections and quality concerns to determine root cause and works with the appropriate people to ensure they are addressed. Create and disposition quality rejections.
  • Performs 5S audits, layered process audits and addresses any finding to ensure requirements are met. Escalates any unresolved issues to the area supervisor.
  • Maintains accountability for their own actions and that of their team. Coaches employees and recommends positive reinforcement and discipline to the area supervisor.
  • Works with employees to ensure 5S requirements are achieved and sustained. Recommends changes and follows up when deficiencies are found.
  • Facilitates the development of team members, including initial training and cross training to ensure employees have the required skills and knowledge to successfully perform the job. Escalates any training concerns to the area supervisor and the training coordinator. Works with the supervisor to ensure adequate cross training to cover absences and support the production requirements.
  • Provides input on performance reviews and corrective actions. Documents coaching given to employees.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent demonstrated leadership skills. Must be able to lead by example and model expected behavior.
  • Ability to drive performance by ensuring self-discipline for themselves and team members, coaching for results, positively reinforcing good performance and recommending discipline for unacceptable behavior.
  • A good understanding of the company handbook and the ability to ensure the policies are enforced consistently.
  • Ability to multi-task and follow up on issues to ensure they are addressed.
  • Must possess or have the ability to quickly learn the quality requirements of the area.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate in a professional manner with all levels of the organization.
  • Must have good computer skills and the ability to learn multiple programs.
  • Analytical thinking skills and above average math skills.
  • Must be willing to work other shifts as required.
