Templeton Academy is an intentionally diverse, private micro-school serving grades 6-12 near the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Established in 2015, we use the city as a classroom and a unique block schedule to inspire deep learning. Our teachers implement project-based learning to ensure work is connected to meaningful, real- world problems that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and compassion.We are currently hiring for a full-time high school math teacher to teach math courses during the 2024-2025 school year.

Dates and Timing:

• Start: August 1st, 2024 (classes starts September 3rd, 2024)
• End: Friday, June 20th, 2025
• Workday: 8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday, including a 1 hour lunch block

Courses Taught:

• Geometry
• Algebra II w/ Trigonometry
• Precalculus
• Calculus
• Core Advisory
• Elective of choice 1 day/week
• Other responsibilities may include supporting 1 day/week with other math classes or study hall support

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement engaging lessons that are anchored in project-based and experiential learning.
• Use a variety of instructional resources and materials to enrich learning and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Effectively utilize the learning management system.
• Attend all school events, such as Exhibition night, and be responsive to requests from staff, students, and parents.
• Effectively communicate with faculty, staff, and students verbally, as well as via email.
• Attend all agreed upon meetings on-time and for the agreed upon duration.

Requirements:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in related subject area, masters degree preferred.
• Track record of working collaboratively, transparently, and professionally with all colleagues.
• Exhibits the ability to incorporate feedback from managers and peers.
• Experience and enthusiasm working with a diverse student body.
• Ability to manage multiple levels in the same class.
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable.

• Proficiency in MS Office and Google (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Google Classroom, Google Sheets, Google Documents, in particular)

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask

Benefits:

• The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 for the 2024-2025 school year.

Evaluation: Weekly check-ins with the Head of School and yearly evaluation.

Term of this Agreement and Termination: Your employment will begin August 1st, 2024 and until the Agreement is terminated under one of the following provisions:

• You may terminate this Agreement by providing your direct manager with such a decision in writing with no less than two weeks’ notice.
• You agree that Templeton Academy may terminate this Agreement at any time by notifying you in writing that we desire to terminate this Agreement.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
