Technical Support Specialist - ( 22000613 ) **Description**
The Technical Support Specialist for Classroom Technology and AV Support, at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine's IT Department, is responsible for scheduling, setting up, maintaining, troubleshooting, and securing computer and AV equipment used for classroom instruction and special events and for providing consultation and training services to faculty
and clients using instructional technology. The primary functions include: providing training, consultation, and troubleshooting services on the use of the facilities and media equipment; maintaining all instructional media and presentation equipment; processing requests to use instructional media equipment and making recommendations to meet or exceed required needs; setting-up requested equipment in a professional and timely manner; training and supervising student consultants; ensuring security of equipment; planning and preparing daily job schedules; serving as liaison between clients and LKSOM IT; and evaluating new AV technology and making recommendations for applications at TUHS and LKSOM. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree in a related field and at least one year of related experience setting up computer and AV equipment to enhance classroom instruction and/or special events. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
*Demonstrated technical competence using a variety of AV and computer equipment, such as, digital projection units,
audio and video playback equipment, AV control systems (AMX or equivalent), digital classroom recording systems,
videoconferencing, web conferencing, phone conferencing, and Ethernet and wireless network technology.
*Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
*Proven customer service and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse constituent population.
*Demonstrated planning and organization skills.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to communicate highly technical information in an
easy-to-understand manner to clients with varying technical skills.
Preferred:
*Experience in a medical or higher education environment
