Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Food Safety Assistant to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist in maintaining CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) and GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) records, conducting farm inspections, and providing administrative support. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in both English and Spanish communication. 

Responsibilities 

  • Maintain accurate CCOF and GAP records, ensuring organic farming standards compliance.
  • Conduct farm inspections to monitor food safety protocol adherence.
  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, record-keeping, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate appointments, meetings, and training for food safety initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and summaries of inspection findings and corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders in English and Spanish.
  • Assist in inventory management of food safety supplies and equipment.
  • Handle incoming correspondence and inquiries related to food safety.
  • Organize and maintain files and reference materials for food safety protocols.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information and records.
  • Review documents for accuracy and completeness, correcting errors as needed.
  • Prioritize tasks based on urgency and compliance requirements. 

Requirements

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in food safety or agriculture is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a farm or agricultural setting is preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed records and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish, with the ability to read, write, and speak fluently.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of CCOF and GAP standards is an advantage.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality.
  • Physical ability to walk around the farm, conduct inspections, and perform administrative tasks as needed is mandatory.

License/Certifications 

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a soft criminal/background check
