Job Description

Position Summary: In a team-oriented environment, manage the new construction, renovation, and historic preservation of a wide variety of projects of all types of construction throughout Maine.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Represent Client Construction with customers, consultants, contractors, and other public and/or private agencies and organizations.
  • Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day management of construction projects; monitor and coordinate work performed by Ganneston Construction employees, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Develop and administer project budgets and fiscal controls, contracts, purchase orders, change orders, subcontractor invoices, and quality control provisions and perform project cost estimating and value engineering, as appropriate.
  • Establish performance and delivery criteria, ensuring that client and institutional requirements are being met.
  • Ensure that project operations are in compliance with design specifications and municipal, state, and/or federal policies and regulations.
  • Responsible for all aspects of project safety and adherence to company safety policy and compliance with all Federal, State, and local safety requirements, including OSHA, Dept. of Labor, etc. Safety is of paramount consideration and the protection of personnel and property is critical.
  • Inspect, approve, and accept completed projects, ensuring conformance with institutional standards, building and life safety codes, and architectural/ engineering specifications.
  • Research and prepare various reports pertaining to operations, equipment, policies, procedures, and/or other issues, as appropriate.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • While we have a Chief Estimator, it is a plus if you have experience with:

Ability to review and interpret proposed designs, architectural drawings, and building specifications for appropriateness to required function and/or institutional standard, and initiate revisions where appropriate; advise consultants and clients as to how best to achieve required results.

Ability to participate in the planning and formulation of design alternatives and solutions for major construction projects; provide conceptual estimates, feasibility studies, and cost estimates, and coordinate the production of basic design plans and construction documents.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related education a plus. At least 10 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Knowledge of architectural design and planning principles and procedures.
  • Ability to understand schematic design documents and technical manuals.
  • Technical knowledge of building components and their function.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and/or supervision to architects, structural engineers, and independent building contractors.
  • Ability to assess contract compliance and product/service quality.
  • Skills in workflow analysis and management.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Ability to negotiate and manage contractual arrangements.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative business environment.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Skill in the use of computers, specifically in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
  • Experience with PROCORE is a plus.
  • Ability to develop and present building estimates and feasibility studies is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
