Description:

Charge entry specialist will be scrubbing through patient charges and cleaning up codes prior to the claims being sent out for billing. Ensuring correct codes are attached to claim for proper billing.

• Research, correct, and resubmit rejected, denied, clean claims to the insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
• Manage all collections attempts made to both the patient and the insurance provider.
• Call insurance companies for the status of outstanding bills, payments and claimant information.
• Review correspondence letters and submit appeals for denials and payment reductions.
• Maintain records of medical billing, claims, and medical insurance, and settlements.
• Monitor multiple accounts and maintain compliance with insurance company rules and regulations.
• Answers questions from patients, staff and insurance companies.
• Process offsets, credits, and refunds.
• Successfully completes other duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Education/Skills:

• High school diploma or GED minimally required. Two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible experience and/or college degree.

• 40 WPM

• Fundamental understanding of key payers including Medicaid, Medicare and private payer
