Responsibilities

Responds to and coordinates timely responses to all legal release of information requests pursuant to Criminal, Civil and Administrative Subpoenas, search warrants, court orders and copy service authorizations. Reviews and validates all written requests, to ensure compliance and appropriateness of the request, in accordance with State and Federal regulations, including laws governing the validity of the legal request. Assembles and provides records in accordance to the request, prepares records for court, makes records available for copy service to review, makes personal appearance in court on behalf of Community Medical Center (CMC) to certify and verify the content of the health record.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) or Completion of a CMC Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required

• 2 years of Health Information Management experience in an acute care hospital required• 1 year of experience in a Health Information Management department demonstrating competency in handling release of information demands and requests and providing high quality customer service required
