Description :

• Verifies insurance eligibility, benefits, pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals requirements for scheduled outpatient services via telephone and / or insurance websites.
• Obtains patient information to facilitate the verification of the unique patient identifiers for clinical purposes, the billing and collections process, and compliance with state and federal regulator requirements.
• Evaluates eligibility for alternate sources of financing care and refers to appropriate agency where possible.
• Obtains any required pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals from insurance companies, primary care physicians, and families.
• Estimates self-pay portions after benefits have been determined (, deductibles, co-pays, non-covered services, etc.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications :

• Must have at least 1-2 years of Eligibility / Auth / Referral / Prior Auth experience.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of medical billing, insurance and private pay.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding practices
• Strong computer skills, including EMR knowledge and Microsoft Office.
