Our client, located in North Dallas, is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis.
Key Qualifications:
- ADP WorkforceNow experience is ideal
- Full-cycle payroll processing experience across multiple states is required
- High volume payroll process is helpful (>1,000 employees)
- Must be familiar with payroll labor laws
The Payroll Specialist will work alongside the Payroll Manager and be responsible for the biweekly processing of employees pay. Work is a combination of payroll, accounting, and clerical duties. The position requires a high degree of integrity, confidentiality, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task, work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide timely, knowledgeable, and courteous service to internal and external customers.
- Perform self and peer review to ensure accurate data entry and maintain system integrity.
- Calculate payments for retroactive increase, partial weeks for salaried personnel, terminations and transfers.
- Prepare and submit off-cycle payments as needed.
- Receive, enter, answer, and maintain garnishments in accordance with federal and state laws.
- Stay abreast of current payroll laws and changes to ensure processes follow these rules.
- Prepare bi-weekly reports for accounting (journal entries) and other departments as deemed necessary for business operations.
- Maintaining employee PTO/Sick leave policies within ADP.
- Other responsibilities and duties as defined from time to time by the manager.
- Two years previous payroll processing experience required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
- Must possess a solid understanding of payroll practices.
- Proven track record of excellent customer service.
- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-directed and motivated to success and exceed expectations.
- ADP Workforce Now experience a plus.
- Strong computer proficiencies; specifically, Microsoft Excel.
