Location: New York City
Employment Type: Seasonal (September – November)
Job summary: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead our seasonal haunt experience. The General Manager will oversee all aspect of the haunt operations, ensuring a thrilling and safe experience for guests. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional organization skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality entertainment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Management
  • Oversee daily operations of the haunted house, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Coordinate and manage the setup and teardown of all haunted house daily operations.
  • Ensure all safety protocols and regulations are strictly followed to guarantee guest and employee safety.
  • Staff Management
    • Train and supervise seasonal operational staff, partnering with Stage Management for performers, technicians, and support personnel.
    • Implement staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all areas and shifts, adjusting as needed.
    • Foster a positive and motivated work environment, addressing any staff issues promptly and professionally.
  • Guest Experience
    • Maintain a high standard of guest service, ensuring all guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience.
    • Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and complaints effectively and efficiently.
    • Implement and oversee crowd control measures to manage high guest volumes.
    • Partner with security personnel to ensure guest safety and proper follow up for escalated situations.
  • Financial Management
    • Manage the budget as provided by RWS Leadership, reporting and tracking expenses.
    • Coordinate with the RWS Leadership team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
    • Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising the guest experience.
  • Maintenance and Logistics
    • Ensure all haunt elements and equipment are in excellent working condition, coordinating repairs and maintenance as needed in conjunction with technical staff and building partners.
    • Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and managing stock levels.
    • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for any outsourced services.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a management role within the entertainment, hospitality, or event management industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Exceptional guest service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paces and high-stress environment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial management.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends as required by the nature of the event.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience management a Halloween or similar seasonal attraction.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for the horror genre.
  • Familiarity with marketing and promotional strategies for entertainment events.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and navigate through dark and confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
