Tecovas is Hiring an Associate Product Developer, Apparel Near Austin, TX

Tecovas is the first direct-to-consumer western brand, founded with the simple goal of making the world’s best western boots, apparel and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike. 

Tecovas is looking for an Associate Product Developer, Apparel to support the Apparel team with the sourcing and approval of fabric samples, lab dips, strike-offs, trims, and other materials. Reporting directly to the Product Development Manager, Apparel, you will work closely with cross functional partners and factories to maintain accurate bills of materials, track updates on work in progress, and ensure development deadlines are being met. 

This position is based out of Austin, TX but will have the ability to work from home and in-office.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist the apparel team with the sourcing and approval of fabric samples, lab dips, strike-offs, trims, and other development materials
  • Maintain the bill of materials in tech packs with accurate and current information
  • Request initial costing to meet margin goals
  • Track samples and update WIP reports to ensure the team is on-track to meet calendar deadlines
  • Communicate daily with cross-functional departments - Design, Technical Design, Merchandising, Planning, and Production
  • Communicate daily with overseas vendors via email to ensure progress on product development
  • Support cross-functional teams with other responsibilities and projects as needed
  • Attend fittings, cross-functional meetings, and key milestone meetings
  • Work on a variety of product categories for both men’s & women’s, including denim, leather, outerwear, knits, and wovens

Experience we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in apparel/fashion design or other relevant degree
  • 2-4 years of product development experience in the apparel industry or other relevant industry
  • General knowledge of fabrics, trims, colors, and garment construction
  • General knowledge of the apparel product lifecycle
  • Skilled in building detailed, thorough bill of materials in tech packs
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and SharePoint
  • Experience in using a PLM system is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to come into the Austin office as needed on a weekly basis
