Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Port Medic.

Reporting to the Port Coordinator, the Port Medic will be responsible for safety leadership, emergency response readiness, and medical care all set against the backdrop of the stunning Alaskan wilderness. It's an adventure that promises challenges and rewards like no other.

This is a fly in/fly out position with a two weeks on/two weeks off schedule rotation.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Lead emergency response at Port Site Operations including first aid, firefighting, confined space rescue and spill response
  • Perform fire extinguisher, spill equipment, and safety inspections, including fire alarm and sprinkler systems support
  • Assist with MSHA and medical training, maintaining training and inspection records
  • Support Hazwoper and confined space training at Port operations
  • Aid fall arrest trainers and manage Fall Arrest equipment maintenance and records
  • Collaborate on Port site, fire department, medical, and spill response training manuals and procedures
  • Administer and maintain records for audiograms, blood lead, cadmium samples, and medications
  • Collect samples for drug and alcohol screens as requested by Safety & Health Coordinator
  • Maintain Port ambulance, fire engine, fire/ambulance bay, and clinic to high standards
  • Provide administrative and clerical services, ensuring office and safety equipment and supplies availability
  • Create "Red Folders" and documentation during shipping season for associated parties
  • Act as initial contact representing Safety & Health at the Port, assisting contractors
  • Participate in Monthly Hazard Recognition audits
  • Deliver Monthly Safety meetings
  • Conduct quantitative respirator fit testing as required, maintaining records
  • Perform CCV audits in the field and within the PAC (Personnel Accommodation Complex)
  • Attend day and night shift toolbox meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Alaska Certified EMT III or equivalent certification from outside Alaska
  • Firefighter II or Firefighter Driver/Engineer
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Team player with a professional demeanor
  • Strong communication skills
  • Will be required to acquire Fire Extinguisher Level II Certification (annual inspection) and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card and security awareness training
