Team Georgia Careers is Hiring an Accountant 2 Near Atlanta, GA

(Hiring salary will be based on experience, credentials, pay equity, and statewide rules.)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Fiscal unit of the Department of Administrative Services seeks an Accountant 2, who under general supervision, performs working-level accounting duties on the general ledger according to DOAS-established policies and standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). These responsibilities include but are not limited to analyzing financial information and preparing reports.

Job Responsibilities

The Accountant 2 will be a subject matter expert or organization resource in assigned areas.

·Serve as a liaison between the Fiscal and Budget Services Unit and the Human Resources Administration to oversee Flexible Benefits reconciliation.

·Reviews and analyzes general ledger accounts accurately for fiscal integrity and compliance with applicable principles, standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.

·Prepares Flexible Benefits account reconciliation; notify respective units of discrepancies and provide accurate identification of required adjustments.

·Prompt and immediate processing of daily work tasks according to specific financial and accounting practices defined and established for the assigned sub-systems.

·Preparing advanced-level professional recommendations and financial reports to management.

·Assist in the development of policies and procedures for assigned areas.

·Maintains complete, accurate, and readily accessible accounting files that conform to applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.

·Follows guidelines for providing information to others and auditors when necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·Knowledge of business operations (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger activities)

·Skills using queries and reports to monitor financial records

·Ability to retrieve information from the accounting system, analyze, identify and investigate discrepancies

·Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills; Strong interpersonal skills

  •  Excellent customer service skills

·Excellent analytical skills

·Experience using Microsoft office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook

·Experience with PeopleSoft Financials

 

This position may require some travel.

Completion of a pre-employment background check is required.

 

DOAS participates in a hybrid work environment and

telework is encouraged with some days in the office required

MINIMUM ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of professional accounting job-related experience;

Or One (1) year of experience at the lower level Accountant 1 (FIP020) or equivalent position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following items below.

·Excellent Excel skills (creating spreadsheets, formulas, pivot tables, etc.)

·Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials

·Government accounting experience

Three or more years of experience working in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and general accounting environment.
