We currently have day and night shift available (flexible schedule is required to include weekend rotation and holidays)

Job Summary:
The QA Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily supervision of QA staff ensuring Food Safety and Product Quality.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Supervise and coordinate QA technicians’ daily tasks and activities.

2. Report all absences, employee issues, accidents and rule infractions to Production Supervisor.

3. Monitor and reduce overtime as needed, controlling labor costs.

4. Ensures training of all new hires and staff in designated area.

5. Assist QA Manager in aligning processes and employee performances.

6. Develop, review and update Food Safety and Product Quality assurance related SOPs.

7. Assist with the management of Food Safety Programs i.e. preventive controls, Allergen Management, GMP’s and Environmental Pathogen monitoring etc.

8. Host 2nd, 3rd Party and regulatory audits.

9. Ensure compliance to all Food Safety and Quality Programs within department.

10. Manage specification and labeling process to ensure compliance to regulatory and customer requirements.

11. Conduct investigation of customer complaints to determine root cause and preventive measures to customers’ satisfaction.

12. Ensure compliance to customer’s specifications and specification documents requirements.

13. Ensure review of Food Safety & Product Quality Assurance documents necessary for customer and inspection submissions e.g. daily record review for conformance to SOPs and specifications.

14. Responsible for all Food Safety and Product Quality Document Control.

15. Monitor performance of Food Safety and Product Quality Systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.

16. Ensure compliance to Kosher specifications requirements as applicable.

17. Organize and maintain retain / shelf-life evaluations and microbiological testing.

18. Initiate and actively participate in mock recall exercise.

19. Communicate Food Safety and Product Quality related information with internal and external customers as applicable.

20. Assist in product traceback and recalls.

21. Communication with other departments to maintain efficiency.

22. Maintain a clean and safe work area.

23. Must follow all company policies, procedures, and established standards.

24. Must meet attendance requirements per Taylor Farms as attendance is crucial to position.

25. Follow and enforce all GMP and PPE procedures per Taylor Farms requirements.

26. Follow and enforce all safety rules and regulations per Taylor Farms requirements.

27. Follow and enforce all additional duties or responsibilities assigned by QA Manager.

Condition of Employment:

  • The successful candidate will be required to provide documentation demonstrating the right to work in the United States upon hire and subject to the E-Verify program.
  • The successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment drug testing.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be exposed to moving mechanical parts, be around operating machines and equipment therefore a meticulous attention to safety is required. Any unsafe condition is required to be reported to management immediately.

The activities of this position will include long periods of exposure to temperatures of 35 degrees. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be trained to safely and effectively work around energy of various types, including moving mechanical parts and vibration. The position includes designated areas where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn. The typical PPE includes: Ear Protection, smocks, rubber foot slides, gloves, cut gloves, and aprons (additional PPE maybe required).

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, sitting, crouching, crawling, and climbing frequently. It also requires long periods of exposure to temperatures of 35 degrees. The employee may frequently lift and/or move items over 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Employment Requirements:

· Must pass pre-employment drug screen

· Reliable transportation required

· Flexible schedule (to include Weekends and Holidays)

Work Experience Requirements:

GED or equivalent, some college degree in food science or related area preferred

Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a supervisor position or lead position in relevant industry

  • 2 years of Customer and 3rd party GMP and Food Safety audits is desired
  • 2-3 Years in a USDA manufacturing environment, preferably in Food Manufacturing is preferred
  • Have completed HACCP training and competent to implement and maintain HACCP based Food Safety Plans i.e. SQF Practitioner is desired
  • Have Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the SQF 2000 Standards
  • Bi-lingual English and/or Spanish, oral and written, communication skills are desired
  • Computer skills proficiency
  • Basic – Intermediate Excel, Word, Data Base management is required
  • Ability to complete necessary paperwork in a neat and timely fashion
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Meet established standards for quality and productivity
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of morale
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Must be able to manage projects from beginning to end
  • Must have a sense of urgency
