Job Description:

As a QA Supervisor who is responsible for leading the Label Compliance team at Taylor Farms Northwest. This position will ensure that products and processes meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. And will play a crucial role in ensuring that our company's food products are accurately labeled and compliant with all relevant regulations and guidelines. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product development, regulatory affairs, marketing, and quality assurance to guarantee that our food labels are truthful, transparent, and in compliance with applicable laws. Your attention to detail, knowledge of regulations, and ability to interpret complex information will be essential in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with local, national, and international regulations related to food labeling, including but not limited to FDA, USDA, CFIA, EU regulations, and any other relevant authorities.
  • Label Review and Approval: Thoroughly review and approve product labels, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. This includes ingredient declarations, nutrition facts, allergen statements, claims, and any other required information.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product development teams to ensure that labels accurately reflect the composition of food products and that any potential compliance issues are identified and addressed in the early stages of product development.
  • Claim Verification: Validate the accuracy of claims made on food labels, including nutritional claims (e.g., "low fat," "high fiber") and health claims (e.g., "heart-healthy," "gluten-free").
  • Allergen Control: Ensure that allergen information is correctly displayed on labels, emphasizing cross-contamination risks and potential allergen sources.
  • Language and Format: Verify that labels are presented in appropriate languages for target markets and adhere to required format specifications.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of label reviews, approvals, and any related correspondence to demonstrate compliance with regulations.
  • Continuous Education: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging regulations, and labeling best practices to provide guidance and make informed decisions.
  • Quality Assurance Support: Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure that label information aligns with product specifications and that production processes are consistent with label claims.
  • Communication: Provide clear and concise guidance to internal teams regarding labeling requirements, potential compliance risks, and any necessary adjustments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, nutrition, regulatory affairs, or a related field. Or equivalent experience. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Certified Food Scientist, Certified Label Professional) are a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of food labeling regulations, including FDA and USDA guidelines. Familiarity with international regulations is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills to accurately interpret and apply complex regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey regulatory information to cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, interacting with various departments.
  • Prior experience in a regulatory, quality assurance, or labeling role within the food industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for label review and compliance tracking.

Full time employees are eligible for benefits after 60-days, which includes medical, dental, vision, and Life Insurance. 401k 4% match is available after 60 days.

Physical Requirements:

This position is in a label room that is attached to our highcare production area that routinely uses standard office equipment such as copiers, computers and phones There are minimal temperature fluctuations and low noise levels. This role is equal parts sitting, walking, and standing.

Constantly = More than two/thirds of the day

Frequently = One/third - two/thirds of the day

Occasionally = Up to one/third of the day

Sitting (O): For office work; stand-up desk is available upon request

Use of Hands/Fingers (F): Operating office equipment such as keyboard, 10-key, label printer

Standing/Walking (F): Navigating around the office, parking lot, label printers, and storage rooms

Climbing (Occasionally): When access to upstairs office is needed

Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl (Occasionally): May need to position self to get to filing cabinets or under desk

Talking/hearing (Constantly): Must be able to effectively communication verbally in order to provide high level of customer service to employees

Seeing/Visual Acuity (Constantly): Computer work, badging, orientation

Taste/Smell: N/A

Lifting/Pushing/Pulling (Occasionally): Move or transport office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $72,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
