Job Details

Job Location: Tarrant County Association for the Blind - Fort Worth, TX
Salary Range: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 Salary/year

Description

The Industrial Operations Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and production of the employees in the assigned department while supporting sales objectives by striving to continually meet or exceed production plans, schedule work assignments, production goals while maintaining superior product quality, safety among all employees and employee relations.

Primary Duties

  • Lead the activities of the team members in the production of quality work in accordance with work instructions and company policy to ensure a quality product is delivered on time.
  • Implement and maintain safety standards as required by law and company policy.
  • Coach and provide expertise to resolve issues and create and ensure corrective action, when necessary
  • Create a high morale workplace with high ethical standards.
  • Manage the scheduling of production: set work schedules, provide training and coaching, conduct performance evaluations, and set departmental goals and expectations.
  • Management employee performance and the need for hiring, discipline, development and recourse planning.
  • Act as a member of the management team and perform other duties as directed by Plant Manager
  • Monitor and take appropriate action to meet production expectations while maintaining the quality requirements.
  • Facilitate workflow management, workforce scheduling, and team members’ placement to ensure the facility and company goals are successfully met or exceeded.
  • Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Carry out and record, when required, established preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment in assigned areas.
  • Ensure the manufacture of a quality product and prevent loss of materials by the utilization of accepted production methods and controls.
  • Be responsible for the facility, entry doors, security, and fire alarm systems in their assigned department.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel the upkeep and repair of tools and machinery to maximize operating capacity and longevity.

Knowledge

  • General knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel
  • Familiar with managing employees time in timeclock management software
  • Familiar with the requirements of OSHA as it pertains to industrial regulations.

Experience

  • Two years supervisory experience in a manufacturing operation or related experience
  • Experience directly managing teams of 4 direct reports to include performance management and disciplinary actions is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills required.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Activities

  • Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Visual Acuity

  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing a computer terminal; reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection of products); accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned, using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication, operating a motor vehicle, heavy equipment, forklifts, and pallet jacks.

Working Conditions

  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The worker is subject to heat: no air-conditioned warehouse facility, controlled temperature in manufacturing areas.
  • The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving equipment.
  • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, or poor ventilation.

Education/Training

  • High School Diploma required.

Transportation

  • Reliable transportation to and from work and within required business hours

Office Hours

  • Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. with occasional Friday and weekend hours to meet company/department objectives.
