Targa Resources Careers is Hiring a Lead Data Management Analyst Near Houston, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

Join our dynamic Data and Analytics team as a Lead Data Management Analyst, where you will play a pivotal role in establishing and refining our Master Data Management (MDM) framework. As a key member of our team, you will leverage your expertise in data management to architect and optimize MDM solutions, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and reliability across the organization. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development of our MDM strategy, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to drive impactful business outcomes through data excellence. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate and lead sessions with business stakeholders to gather requirements and to understand the existing business processes related to master data. This includes processes for data creation, data updates, data usage, and data governance.
  • Design and develop detailed process maps, flowcharts, and diagrams to depict the integration and flow of master data across disparate business functions and systems.
    • Identify key touchpoints and decision points within the processes.
    • Specify data sources, data consumers, data owners, and data transformation points in the data flow.
  • Work closely with data governance teams to ensure that data governance policies, rules, and responsibilities are integrated into the documented business processes. Highlight where data stewardship input and data quality checks are required.
  • Ensure that MDM initiatives are aligned with these business priorities and document business value.
  • Define and document the core master data domains for our organization (e.g., Locations, Suppliers, Customers, Assets, etc.).
  • Develop data models for the identified master data domains, specifying the attributes, relationships, and hierarchies that should be captured and maintained.
  • Classify and categorize data based on its criticality, complexity, and usage patterns. Determine which data elements qualify as master data.
  • Make recommendations on where various MDM approaches (e.g., Centralized, Registry, etc.) are most suitable.
  • Define requirements for data matching and merging rules, survivorship criteria and data stewardship workflows.
  • Thorough understanding of master data hierarchy management.
  • Collaborate with the data architecture team to implement data warehouses and/or data marts for master data.
  • Provide technical inputs and support in developing MDM and data quality best practices, governance, standards, and conventions.
  • Ensure MDM processes adhere to relevant data privacy and regulatory standards.
  • Independently conduct research to make sound decisions on accurate classifications of company corporate structure, industry assignments, locations, and relationship information.
  • Produce and analyze reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) around data management, identifying trends and insights for senior management.
  • Proactively identify potential data quality issues within existing datasets and data processes.
  • Develop and communicate actionable recommendations to address identified data issues, including process improvements, system enhancements, and data governance initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related IT field
  • 2 years of professional experience in data management, data governance, or a related role, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience in developing and implementing Master Data Management processes in a complex organizational environment.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, data quality, and data integration concepts.
  • Proficient in writing SQL queries across large datasets.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, analyze, and cleanse large datasets with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to independently research information and learn quickly in fast paced environment.
  • Familiarity with MDM tools and technologies a plus.
  • Experience working with data from SaaS applications (e.g., Oracle ERP Cloud, UKG) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) a plus.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI or other reporting tools a plus.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
