Position: Quality Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Huntsville, AL (100% onsite)

Duration: 6 Months Contract (can extend to 24 months or convert to FTE)

• BLUE-REQ-0003077: B – shift (M-F; 3 PM to 1:30 AM)
• BLUE-REQ-0003078: C - shift (F-S; 5 AM to 5:30 PM)
• BLUE-REQ-0003079: D - shift (F-S; 5 PM to 5:30 AM)

Job Description:

Accountable for ensuring that all work associated with updates or changes to global labeling standards/procedures, training plans and process improvements, routing and approval of assigned labeling deliverables through ECR and PDM processes is carried out in compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of a B.S. in engineering
• Quality assurance experience in a production environment. Aerospace, space launch, military/commercial aviation preferred.
• Targeting a minimum of 5 years of experience. If having 5 years in an aerospace environment that would be great.
• Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management Systems and/or related quality systems and programs
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
• Material Review Board experience preferred.
• Preferred – material review board experience. First article inspection – would love to have but can be trained. Work order reviews can also be trained. These three are the most important. Knowledge of GD&T.

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of subassembly and final assembly of aerospace hardware.
• Knowledge of Weld and NDT practices
• Precision Measurement Science fundamentals
• Proficient in the fundamentals of GD&T.
• Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities
• RCA fundamentals
• Quality assurance experience in a rocket engine production environment
• Quality Management System audit experience
• Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification

Day-to-Day activities:

Coming into any portion of the rocket engine could be in the machine, could be an assembly valve, could be fabricated, or even in the final assembly area. Work on non-conformances, and look at work order reviews and releases. Work order closures. Disposition of the NCs. First article inspection at times. May have some minor inspections that a QA has to go out there at times. Can apply in every department or facilitate.

Training:

On-the-job training. MRB processing – material review board. Could take roughly three months of mentorship with someone to learn that activity. Looking for level threes. They will train on A shift for at least two weeks, but we do have off shifts so we could go right to the off shift.
