Position Summary:

As an integral part of our team, the Pharmacy Assistant supports the Director of Pharmacy in various duties, ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient pharmaceutical services. Responsibilities include compounding, dispensing, inventory management, medication monitoring, staff education, and collaboration with medical staff and other departments.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapies for patients
• Provide education and information on pharmaceutical care and drug therapy
• Coordinate Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee activities
• Participate in Infection Control and Antibiotic Stewardship initiatives
• Review clinical activities and contribute to departmental quality improvement
• Assist with training and orientation of new employees and pharmacy technicians
• Support patient charging and inventory control activities
• Assist with Quality Assurance and Drug Use Evaluation activities
• Perform other duties related to pharmacy practice as needed

Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy program required; Doctor of Pharmacy preferred
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently in a stressful environment
• Current licensure as a Pharmacist in the State of West Virginia
• Hospital pharmacy experience
