We have been asked to identify a Engineering Lab Manager. This is an onsite role for one of our clients in Federal Way, WA.

Position Description:

Responsible for maintaining inventory, equipment and OSHA safety standards for a flexible schedule of 20 hours per week.

Specific responsibilities include:

Maintain a clean and orderly lab

• Confirm proper labeling and storage of any chemicals
• Maintain general supplies such as ESD wrist straps, cabling, components and order replacements as needed
• Maintain lab equipment inventory list, conduct the required annual audit, and close with accounting
• Identify items that appear chronically unused and flag for review of potential disposal or redistribution to another facility
• Uphold lab and office OSHA inspection requirements

Maintain lab equipment

• Conduct basic repairs such as replace damaged power supply
• Coordinate more advanced repairs with vendors
• Obtain quotes, generate PO’s, and schedule repairs with approved vendors
• Build and maintain equipment calibration schedule
• Set calibration priorities as needed to stay within budget
• Schedule quarterly calibrations with approved vendor, including obtain quote and generate PO for approval
• Coordinate routine preventative maintenance schedules on built-ins

Build, modify, and repair test setups

• Handle rework PCB boards with SMT as small as 0402. Use re-work machine to remove/place SMT ICs. Other solder repairs as needed in lab.
• Ability to remove and replace fine pitch SMD/SMT components (e.g. TSOP, QFP, SOIC, 0402) without damage to the PCB or components
• Ability to read and understand PCB layout images, component data sheets and rework instructions
• Familiarity with reading electrical schematics

• Requires solid electronics fundamentals with broad general electronics background

Data collection

• Assist with data collection for new device development and/or customer questions
• Requires ability to determine how to test various needed electrical parameters
• Requires solid background in usage of lab setups including power supplies, test boards, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
