Position Overview:As a 1st Class Carbon Steel Pipe Fitter, you will play a crucial role in the construction, repair, and maintenance of marine vessels. Your expertise in carbon steel pipe fitting will ensure the integrity and functionality of piping systems critical to ship operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, assemble, and maintain carbon steel piping systems on various marine vessels.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings to determine pipe layout and specifications.
- Cut, thread, weld, and fit carbon steel pipes to precise measurements and standards.
- Conduct pressure tests and inspections to verify the integrity and safety of piping systems.
- Install supports, hangers, and brackets to secure pipes and ensure structural stability.
- Collaborate with other shipyard tradespeople to achieve project milestones and deadlines.
- Participate in safety meetings, follow safety protocols, and maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on existing piping systems as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a 1st Class Carbon Steel Pipe Fitter in a shipyard or marine construction environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong knowledge of carbon steel pipe fitting techniques, including welding and threading.
- Familiarity with shipyard safety regulations and practices.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Relevant certifications or trade qualifications preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $23.50 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 50 per week
