Tahoe Youth & Family Services JOB DESCRIPTION:

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, (CA) $32.00 an hour, part-time.

JOB SUMMARY The Associate Marriage and Family Therapist is under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. The Associate Marriage and Family Therapist counsels individuals, youth, families, and groups. Counseling focuses on family reunification, crisis counseling, and solution-focused services. The person in this position provides optimal client care using the knowledge and skills of a counseling process and human care environment. This position can be a part-time, non-exempt position.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year university with a major in Social Sciences or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in counseling.
  • A license for CSW in California is required, or as a Licensed Associate.
  • Must be registered with a California-approved Mental Health agency. Must follow through with subsequent requirements for internship and certification as required by the CA BBS.
  • One year of experience in a related field is required (including field placement, volunteering, and internship); two years of experience is preferred.
  • Special consideration will be given to people with knowledge of community-based organizations.
  • Special consideration will be given to persons who speak and understand Spanish.
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for the required education, as deemed appropriate by the Executive Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Receive referrals, conduct intake interviews, assess client needs, and develop treatment plans with client goals and objectives identified.
  • Conduct ongoing individual and/or youth, family, group, and crisis counseling.
  • Treatment planning and evaluation.
  • Document client progress, maintain client files, and terminate cases according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate client statistics and accurate time utilization records daily.
  • Maintain appropriate client referral service linkages; make appropriate referrals when necessary.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, case conferences, quality assurance reviews, and utilization reviews.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date confidential client files, statistical data, and other agency records.
  • Maintain required program statistical data.
  • Document progress through monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Report progress to the Executive Director or the Board of Directors upon request.
  • Monitor and update agency library source materials related to program needs.
  • Recommend the purchase of new materials for the counseling department to the Executive Director.
  • Develops resources within the community to serve children and families.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and related functions.
  • Assist in planning and carrying out agency fundraising activities.
  • Answer the telephone and greet clients and the public professionally, pleasantly, and courteously.
  • Acquire updated information through reading and training to remain current on job-related techniques, issues, and information.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records.
  • Submit required reports promptly.
  • Participate in appropriate networking activities and provide education to public and private agencies, schools, and the community through direct presentations.
  • Share in-office coverage and maintenance when necessary.
  • Perform all tasks and assignments to ensure appropriate and ethical adherence to the grant/contract guidelines under which the program operates.
  • Share office cleaning and maintenance duties as requested.
  • Other responsibilities, as assigned, are to support department/business needs.
  • Perform all related tasks as requested by the Executive Director or the Operations Manager
