Job Summary: Syzygy Plasmonics Inc. is seeking a talented Senior Reliability Engineer to join our product development team. In this role, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our products throughout their lifecycle. You will apply your expertise to identify potential failure modes, develop testing methodologies, and implement strategies to enhance product reliability. Come join us and help us change the world for the better!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Value and Reliability Analysis in Testing: Develop and implement testing protocols that evaluate both product reliability and value. Focus on optimizing product lifecycle costs and performance, identifying enhancements that extend product durability while improving function and reducing waste.
  • Lifecycle and Value-focused Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data from reliability and lifecycle tests to identify how changes affect both the durability and cost-efficiency of products. Use insights to drive decisions on product improvements, focusing on maximizing lifecycle value.
  • Integrated Risk and Value Assessment: Perform risk assessments that incorporate value engineering and reliability principles. Evaluate risks not only by their potential impact on functionality and safety but also by their effects on product lifecycle costs and value.
  • Root Cause Analysis with a Lifecycle Perspective: Investigate the root causes of product failures or issues, considering both reliability and the entire product lifecycle. Apply value engineering principles to propose solutions that enhance product longevity and performance while reducing lifecycle costs.
  • Continuous Improvement with Reliability and Value Engineering: Implement continuous improvement strategies that focus on reliability, product life extension, and cost reduction. Utilize value engineering tools to identify and eliminate non-value-added elements throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Detailed Documentation of Lifecycle and Value Improvements: Maintain comprehensive records that detail the impact of changes on product reliability and lifecycle value. Ensure that documentation supports compliance, reliability, and value optimization objectives.
  • Collaborative Product Lifecycle and Value Engineering: Collaborate with design engineers, quality assurance teams, and manufacturing to ensure that product development integrates reliability and value engineering from inception through to end-of-life, focusing on lifecycle value maximization.
  • Communication of Reliability and Value Improvements: Effectively communicate the benefits of integrating reliability and value engineering into product development processes to stakeholders. Highlight how these approaches improve product performance, reduce total lifecycle costs, and enhance market competitiveness.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in reliability engineering, preferably in product development within a relevant industry.
  • Leadership experience in leading either a small group of direct reports or a cross functional team preferred.

  • Experience with reliability testing techniques and standards.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and drive solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Certification in reliability engineering (e.g., CRE) is a plus.
