Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide design and ongoing support of local area networks and wide area networks used in mail processing applications.
- Plan, design, build, configure, test, document, and implement both a physical and logical network infrastructure.
- Configure routers and switches, with appropriate network communications protocols, and their implementation via network hardware and software.
- Provide Tier 3 help desk support for resolving complex network problems involving multiple applications and organizations.
- Familiarity with all layers of OSI model and network communication protocols and working knowledge of Cisco hardware.
- At least 5 years hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting Cisco switches and routers.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems involving networks and application systems.
- Ability to create network architecture solutions for new applications based on user requirements.
- Experience with SolarWinds products and Sniffer software.
- Ability to create technical documentation such as statement of work, technical presentations, and after action support reports.
- Help Desk experience at the Tier 3 level.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating systems including basic administration, communications, and networking configurations.
- Experience working in a virtualized environment.
- Knowledge of network traffic load balancing concepts
- Experience with either Windows or Linux based scripting languages. (PowerShell/VBS or Python/Perl/Ruby/Bash)
- CCNA or better certification will be a plus.
- The candidate must be able to obtain a sensitive security clearance from USPS.
