About This Role:

Favor TechConsulting, LLC (FTC) a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tria Federal (Tria) is seeking a talented Senior Network Engineer. FTC supports the Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (DOL BLS) by providing IT Support Services. This position is part of a project to support BLS moving from their Washington, DC location to a new building in Suitland, MD. Activities include running requirement-gathering meetings, creating design documentation and diagrams, suggesting alternative options and proposing solutions according to government provided requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a scalable and reliable network infrastructure for the new location that meets the organization's requirements for bandwidth, security, and availability
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of the network requirements and create a detailed network design that includes equipment selection, network topology, and IP addressing scheme
  • Manage and configure network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, and access points to ensure optimal network performance and security
  • Troubleshoot network issues and implement solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruption to business operations
  • Monitor network performance and security, and proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure network uptime and data integrity
  • Implement and maintain network security policies and procedures, including firewall rules, access control lists, and VPN configurations
  • Manage network documentation and keep it up to date, including network diagrams, IP address assignments, and device configurations
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other IT staff and end-users as needed, including network troubleshooting and support for network-related applications
  • Stay up to date with emerging network technologies and trends, and provide recommendations for network improvements and upgrades as needed
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and business units to ensure that the network infrastructure aligns with the organization's overall IT strategy and goals

The “Need-to-Have” Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years of experience designing scalable and reliable network infrastructure for large organizations
  • Familiar with server, storage, and internet technologies and terminologies
  • Ability to communicate technical details and visions both verbally and in writing
  • Two (2) years of experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining public & private enterprise wireless network
  • Two (2) years of experience in Web content filtering, firewalls, and VPN
  • Five (5) years of experience in a technical leadership or supervisory role
  • Five (5) years of experience working with of computer network telecommunications, firewall, Windows Server operating systems, and TCP/IP protocol
  • Five (5) years of experience managing PKI and supporting technologies
  • Five (5) years of experience administering network management protocols and related standard tools
  • Five (5) years of experience working with network-based application software such as DNS, DNSSec, DHCP, and Internet-Based Domain Naming services and registration process
  • Five (5) years of experience managing telecommunications, local area network, computer security issues, and established security practices
  • Five (5) years of experience evaluating current networks, identifying deficiencies, and recommending performance improvements
  • Ten (10) years of experience in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer network
  • Demonstrated experience with designing Continuity of operations and disaster recovery solutions
  • Must hold a technical certification (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Professional or Cisco Certified Design Professional)

Professional Certifications:

  • Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP)
  • CompTIA Network
  • CompTIA Security
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert 
  • Windows Server 2019

Education:

Bachelor’s degree

Clearance:

Ability to obtain & maintain a Public Trust Clearance 

Years of Professional Experience:

5 years of experience 

Required Technical / Business Toolset Experience:

  • MS Teams, MS Visio, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Network monitoring tools (i.e. Solarwinds)
  • Cisco Switches, routers and wireless access point configuration

The “Nice-to-Have” Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to present complex network IT solutions to new and ongoing projects and stakeholders
  • Ability to write solid, clear, detailed technical solutions, implementation plans, schedules, action items, document incidents and complete root cause analysis statements
  • Self-motivated, minimally supervised with the willingness of learning and training others
  • Support management and customer’s objectives, scopes, goals, and visions
  • Demonstrate a customer-centric attitude and solid communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to spend extended duration standing and walking and have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
