System One is Hiring a Security Analyst - Contractor Near Pittsburgh, PA
Summary: Responsible for identifying and correcting a variety of data management issues.
Job Responsibilities: • Set up, update and maintain securities in all asset classes (fixed income products, equities, options, OTC derivatives, etc.) in proprietary and third-party operations and accounting systems. • Initiate and maintain reference data on securities and issuers. • Create reports and control checks to correct security data in firm trading systems. • Respond to inquiries related to security master functions. • Diagnose data exceptions, recommend, and develop controls to ensure accuracy. • Maintain security master data (security reference, derived, fundamental, and analytic data) and workflows associated with maintaining the data. • Applies security concepts, reviews information, executes defined tasks, analyzes requirements, reviews logs, and creates documentation. • Performs investigation and data loss prevention, data manipulation, and coordination of activities. • Performs actions to address or mitigate risks and vulnerabilities. • Reviews and defines controls. • Advises on less complex security procedures and products for clients, security administrators and network operations. • Participates in enforcement of control security risks and threats. • Conducts security assessments and other information security routines consistently, with supervision.
Skills: • A strong knowledge of products including bonds, CDS, leveraged loans, and equities. • Basic familiarity with capital structures and issuer relationships, debt guarantees, and corporate actions / succession events. Familiarity with investment data sources; i.e. Bloomberg, Paladyne, Markit. • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; working knowledge of the Bloomberg Excel API preferred. • Knowledge of system integrity, data validation, Order Management Systems, and the ability to communicate well.
Education/Experience: • High School Degree and Bachelors degree (BS in Finance or BBA in Information Systems)/relevant field or equivalent work experience required. • 4-5 years working with data integrity for security master maintenance across fixed income and equity products.
Intended length of Assignment: 1 year -- hopeful for a conversion at a year
Describe the role and the key responsibilities in order of which they will be doing day 1 and frequently followed by those they will be doing as the project/work progresses:
• Utilizing standard procedures and independent judgment, conducts quality analysis of the investigations performed by staff. Identifies systemic issues and drives correction. • Reviews complex and/or high impact investigations prepared by staff to ensure decision making is appropriate and documented. Ensures narratives are complete, accurate, and comply with external guidance and internal policies and procedures. Applies subject matter and industry knowledge to vet case decisions and resolve discrepancies appropriately. Ensures the appropriate materials and documentation of the investigation performed are retained. • Maintains strong quality control protocols. Works with staff to develop and improve incoming quality. Coaches and mentors analysts/investigators on indicators of various typologies and emerging threats. Acts as a resource to less experienced investigative staff. • Identifies and analyzes complex factors related to risk mitigation and protection, anticipating potential consequences and recommending appropriate controls. Identifies systemic issues, and facilitates effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
