Syracuse VAMC is Hiring a Registered Nurse - Acute Care Near Buffalo, NY

The Western New York VA Medical Center is seeking Acute Care Registered Nurses to care for our Nations Hero's at the Buffalo VA Medical Center.

The practice of the profession of nursing as a registered professional nurse is defined as diagnosing and treating human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counselling and provision of care supportive to or restorative life and well being (New York State Board of Nursing). The nurse's primary commitment is to the patients, whether an individual, family, group or community.

The position of Registered Nurse responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Applies the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit/team/group level to improve care. Demonstrates leadership by involving others in improving care
  • Supports and enhances patient self determination. Serves as a resource for patients and staff in addressing ethical issues
  • Identifies and assesses resource utilization and safety issues, taking appropriate action
  • Acquires knowledge and skills to maintain expertise in an area of practice. Participates in educational activities to improve clinical knowledge and enhance role performance
  • Evaluates practice of self and others using professional standards. relevant statutes and regulations. Takes action to improve performance
  • Uses group process to identify, analyze and resolve care problems
  • Educates colleagues and/or students and serves as a preceptor or mentor
  • Initiates/Participates in quality improvement activities that result in approved outcomes
  • Uses body of research to validate and/or change work group practice

Work Schedule: Day/Evening/Nights

Nights, 7:30pm-8am

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of successful Acute Care Nursing in a hospital or clinic based environment

Pursuant to VHA Directive 1193.01, VHA health care personnel (HCP) are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 subject to such accommodations as required by law (i.e., medical, religious or pregnancy). VHA HCPs do not include remote workers who only infrequently enter VHA locations. If selected, you will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and submit documentation of proof of vaccination before your start date. Pay: $70,244.00 - $135,130.00 per year
