Syracuse Haulers Waste Removal is Hiring a Human Resources and DOT Compliance Manager Near Syracuse, NY

Job Summary:

Coordinate and administer Human Resources activities and perform related administrative duties to support business objectives including but not limited to; recruiting, benefits administration, processing paperwork for new and separating employees, preparing and maintaining employee personnel files, development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, compliance with safety initiatives, and monitoring of employee relations throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with department leaders to understanding current staffing and hiring needs
  • Developing strategies to attract and retain talent within the transportation department
  • Organizing, and conducting interviews and assessing candidates for roles within the organization
  • Addressing employee relations issues such as safety concerns, compliance issues, unique environment challenges
  • Fostering positive relationships between management and employees to enhance overall morale and performance
  • Staying up to date on relevant labor laws, DOT compliance at local, state and federal level
  • Ensuring that HR practices align with the regulatory standards (DOL, OSHA, DOT) to mitigate legal risks
  • Identifying training needs for employees, including but not limited to – safety, compliance and skills development
  • Providing feedback to managers and employees regarding performance expectations, goals and career development
  • Developing and promoting wellness programs to ensure holistic approach to safety and well being
  • Analyzing workforce trends to anticipate future needs in the transportation department
  • Developing workforce planning strategies to ensure a skilled and adaptable workforce
  • Collaborating with additional HR partners to share best practices and ensuring consistency in HR policies and procedures

Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience supporting a logistics operation
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office required
  • Ability to learn and use industry related software (SoftPak,Tenstreet,,i.e..)
  • Union (Teamsters) Experience a plus

  • Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality

  • Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies to all associates; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift

Physical Requirements:

·None or very limited physical effort required.

·Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, using a computer terminal, and reading.

·The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive hand motions, push and/or pull with arms; reach with arms and/or hands.
