Experience, Skills, and Education Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
2. At least 2 years of proven successful customer service or inside/outside sales experience.
3. Average tenure of at least 2 years over the past 5 years; fewer than 3 employers over the past 5 years.
4. Ability to multi-task specifically receiving multiple calls, emails, texts and managing/prioritizing them accordingly.
5. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred with nearly perfect grammar.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel & Outlook Emails), and overall advanced computer competence required.
7. Two years of Industrial Gas industry experience with knowledge of welding processes and gas applications preferred.
8. Strong problem solving, critical thinking, coachability, interpersonal, organizational, and verbal/written communications skills.
General Job Responsibilities:
  • Customer Interaction: Serve as the first point of contact for customers via phone, email, and in-person visits. Listen actively to customer inquiries, concerns, and orders, and respond promptly and accurately with a positive and professional demeanor.
  • Order Processing: Process customer orders promptly and accurately using our internal systems. Collaborate with the sales and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical information and guidance on industrial gas and welding supplies, including product specifications, usage instructions, and safety recommendations.
  • Issue Resolution: Address customer complaints and concerns with empathy and efficiency. Troubleshoot problems and work collaboratively with internal departments to find effective solutions, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop a comprehensive understanding of our products, services, and offerings. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to provide customers with relevant information.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized customer records, order history, and communications in our database.
  • Upselling and Cross-Selling: Identify opportunities to promote additional products or services that align with customer needs, contributing to revenue growth.
  • Relationship Building: Build and nurture strong customer relationships by establishing trust and rapport through effective communication and consistently meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues in sales, logistics, and technical departments to ensure seamless customer experiences and optimized processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback and insights from customer interactions to improve processes, products, and services, ultimately enhancing the overall customer experience
Specific Job Responsibilities:
  • Be the Company’s first point of contact: Answer all phone calls and handle all in-person visits from new and existing customers. Nurture and grow existing customer relationships. Make sure that no customer is left unattended. Increase existing customers’ average transaction size (upsell).
  • Be the bridge between the Sales team and the Operations (Plant and Distribution) team to ensure complete customer satisfaction and complete operational efficiency.
  • Prepare a list of 5 most important to-do’s/pending items to complete and send it to all team members every Monday morning.
  • Responsible for daily preparation of the Sales Journal ensuring total accuracy in quantities and pricing. Deliver daily to Management for processing.
  • Call customers daily two days in advance to pre-plan delivery routes and enter outstanding orders/create delivery tickets. Follow up with email to the team ensuring all deliveries are included. Ensure Production (Filling Plant) received all orders for next day at least two days in advance.
  • Prepare quotes daily and/or provide the Sales Manager/Territory Managers with information to prepare quotes. Submit quotes on time. Acquire competitive bid information and pass it on to management. Learn of and participate in Local, State, and Federal Government Bids.
  • Become technically competent in welding process & gas applications through company sponsored training or vendors’ schools. Learn SYOXSA part numbers.
  • Review and manage existing customer accounts’ gas rent pricing, cylinder balances, delivery fees, POs, etc. and ensure accuracy in all transactions.
  • Become proficient operating our Trendex ERP Software.
  • Coordinate with the Distribution Manager to define the daily delivery route and ensure all customers are serviced with correct cylinders/products and pricing, and that each delivery note is completed accurately by the driver and customer.
  • Schedule important Potential Customer meetings for the Territory Managers and the Sales Manager to attend.
  • Visit a potential customer in-person who is eager to begin receiving SYOXSA’s products and services or existing customers for new product deliveries, installations, or cylinder audits after coordinating with Sales Manager, Sales Engineer, and/or the Territory Manager.
  • Follow up and respond to customer emails within 24 hours (preferably less).
  • Manage and continually review the customer Product Supply Agreements (PSA) and advise the Sales Manager/Territory Managers on soon-to-expire agreements.
  • Update CRM detailing the result of the calls from the prior week and the planned calls for the following week.
  • Resolve any customer issue that the Counter Sales Representative cannot (i.e., invoicing, AR, delivery issue, pricing issue, cylinder balance issue, etc.).
  • Advise the Purchasing Manager weekly on any needed items or parts for new/existing customer orders to ensure timely delivery of orders.
