Job Summary

Design and manage financial programs to ensure compliance with federal, state and Board of Regents policies and regulations. Direct and lead highly visible projects related to financial compliance, training and outreach. Manage internal and external financial audit support activities. Serve as primary advisor to Financial Services leadership regarding Institute internal structure. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Administration and Finance staff, management, and leadership; academic and research unit finance directors.This position typically will advise and counsel: Administration and Finance staff, management, and leadership; academic and research unit finance directors; Executive VP of Admin & Finance.This position will supervise: Assigned financial staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Provide oversight, leadership and management of highly visible projects related to financial compliance, training and outreach to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Board of Regents (BOR) policies and regulations.
Job Duty 5 -
Provide senior level financial analysis and compliance assistance to Administration and Finance management and leadership.
Job Duty 6 -
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Duty 2 -
Provide direction to campus administrative and financial officers to ensure the Institute is pursuing all appropriate ways of maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, achieving stated goals and improving efficiency.
Job Duty 3 -
Conduct allowable cost compliance reviews, identify necessary accounting corrections and employee training, and implement enhancements to systems and processes.
Job Duty 4 -
Provide internal and external audit support, coordination and management. Act as the primary point of contact for audit scheduling and related administrative requirements and provide oversight and resolution assistance for external audit requests.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Four to five years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Research Administrator (CRA), or Certified Financial Research Administrator (CFRA)

Experience in policy and procedure development, auditing practices and processes, internal compliance-assurance programs, and related operational support activities

Experience with enterprise financial systems such as PeopleSoft, Workday, etc and experience with associated query/reporting tools

Experience with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) preferred.

Related experience within University system a plus
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree in Accounting, Business or related field

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal control and audit standards. Knowledge of State of Georgia and BOR polices and requirements, sponsored programs operations, or Federal Office of Management & Budget (OMB) Uniform Requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access). Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with staff, faculty, and leadership in all campus units. Strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to multi-task effectively.
