Synaptics is seeking a Director to oversee Engineering Services throughout AMER, EMEA & APAC. You will serve as a strong leader within the IT organization, collaborating cross-functionally and with senior leadership to drive frictionless Engineering services organization. You will lead a team of professionals with many different skills to provide our Engineering Organization with innovative support. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an execution approach to facilitate the effective translation of strategic plans to seamless delivery to the business. Structured thinking, problem-solving skills, outstanding communication, and project management abilities will be crucial for success in this role. This position reports to the VP, Infrastructure.

The typical base pay range for this position is USD $164,000 - $257,400 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, equity, and other benefits. Note that compensation listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.

Job Duties

• Develop the Overall strategy for Engineering IT including Engineering Infrastructure, Engineering Design and support applications, Engineering Desktop and External design environments
• Develop and implement the Synaptics Engineering Hub concept, relocating engineering resources from remote locations to high performance regional hubs
• Manage the IT delivery roadmap ensuring speed and efficiency of overall engineering and delivery output.
• Work with Engineering leaders and technology leaders to manage technology choices and design choices for speed and efficiency while balancing near term and long term perspective
• Build collaborative relationships with senior leaders across divisional engineering leaders
• Develop, manage and report on IT Engineering Services department budget
• Implement monitoring and develop metrics to measure department performance
• Lead an IT engineering team to ensure fast, efficient delivery of new capabilities.
• Managing multi-location teams of technical resources to provide remote and on-site support for different Engineering teams across the globe.
• Engages with all levels of Engineering management and key stakeholders to develop, implement and manage support and operational objectives
• Providing leadership, direction, and strategy for a growing organization
• Building the organizational capacity necessary to implement the strategy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field, or equivalent
• 15 years of experience in managing large infrastructure server farms running Linux including leading on-site and hybrid work teams
• 5 years of experience supporting engineering environments preferably in a semiconductor environment
• Track record with delivering high availability in complex, global environments
• Consistent track record of leading a successful data analysis team, with outcome
• Demonstrated ability to access business needs, creatively approach solutions, decide and implement appropriate course of actions
• Experience working in a hybrid on-prem and public cloud environment
• Strong experience in High Performance Compute (HPC) Environments, ETX, LSF, License Scheduler, RTM, SOS repository, Jira, Confluence, GIT and Jenkins
• Experience in Kubernetes and modern cloud native stack
• Experienced managing virtual teams
• Experience implementing monitoring and metrics to measure department performance
• Travel requirements
