Symetra is Hiring a Remote Director - Employee Benefits - Remote

Symetra is seeking a Director to join our Employee Benefits Team!

About the role

In this role, you will lead the employee benefits teams with a primary focus on employee benefit experience strategy, optimization, and delivery including employee benefits engagement, communications strategy and deployment, enrollment experience, market benchmarking, and employee sentiment.

What you will do

  • Create forward looking strategy for benefit and wellbeing plans and programs across Symetra. Scale the administration of all benefit and wellbeing plans and programs to ensure efficient operations while keeping employee experience front and center.
  • Serve as subject matter authority and advisor to senior leadership on all benefits matters.
  • In conjunction with benefits team leaders, is accountable and responsible for developing and implementing plan design changes and adding new plans and programs.
  • Responsible for mentoring and developing direct reports and team members, and the identification of developmental and training opportunities which will drive department growth and skills.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to the 401(k) Investment Committee ensuring that adequate processes and controls are in place to meet the Company's fiduciary responsibility.
  • Partner with external advisors and legal counsel to ensure that all benefits are competitive and compliant with all federal and local government regulations.
  • Drive diversity, equity and inclusion leading practices across Total Rewards ensuring that benefit & wellbeing programs are equitable and meet the needs of our diverse population.

Compensation

Salary Range: $133,500 - $222,400 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Your experience and skills

  • 7 years of experience crafting and driving employee benefit & wellbeing programs required.
  • 5 years of leadership experience required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Creative thinking and practices in total rewards and HRIS with ability and willingness to dive deep.
  • Knowledge of HR practices, principles and procedures including cross-departmental collaboration with other HR functions.
  • Experience leading projects, including defining scope, managing budgets, driving deliverables, meeting deadlines, and handling competing priorities.
  • Has the presence, skills, collegiality, discipline, and leadership capabilities to lead an excellent service organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to present, train, influence, and negotiate.
  • CEBS or PHR (SPHR) preferred.
  • Some occasional travel required.
